Dr. Jasmine Johnson receives Robert C. Cefalo House Officer Award

Dr. Johnson will accept the award along with other recipients at a ceremony May 8, 2017.

Dr. Jasmine Johnson, of the UNC OB-GYN residency class of 2018, has been awarded a 2017 Robert C. Cefalo House Officer Awards.

This award honors Dr. Robert C. Cefalo, professor emeritus of obstetrics and gynecology, as well as former assistant dean and head of the Office of Graduate Medical Education at the UNC School of Medicine. The award has been given since 2001, and Dr. Cefalo passed away in 2008.

The award recognizes members of UNC Hospitals’ housestaff for exemplary service to patients and families, professional performance and compassionate patient care.

The general criteria used for recommendation include:

  • Demonstrated empathy for patients and their families;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in listening to and communicating with patients and families;
  • Advocacy for and demonstration of the highest standards of patient care; and
  • Exemplary professional and interpersonal interactions with colleagues, staff, patients and visitors.
