Emily Hardisty, MS, CGC, clinical instructor and coordinator of Reproductive Genetic Counseling Services in the UNC Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, was recently awarded the Distinguished Master's in Genetic Counseling Alumni Award from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.

Each year, the school presents these prestigious awards to their most dedicated and qualified alumni who have demonstrated outstanding achievement or service in their fields. Hardisty was presented with the honor at the school's annual Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner earlier in April.

Hardisty completed her master's degree at the University of South Carolina in 2001. Prior to that, she received her bachelor's degree in biology from UNC-Chapel Hill. After completing her degree at USC, she returned to UNC to practice as a reproductive genetic counselor.

She has been with UNC MFM for more than 15 years, and has held her current position since 2011. She is involved in didactic and clinical education of medical students, residents, fellows, nurse practitioners and genetic counseling students, and she has collaborated on more than 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts.
