UNC Horizons tree now accepting gift donations for the holidays

UNC Horizons is a comprehensive substance use disorder treatment program for pregnant and/or parenting women and their children, including those whose lives have been touched by abuse or violence.

The UNC Horizons Program's annual Holiday Tree is now up in the UNC OB-GYN Chair's office and Administrative Suite in 3009 Old Clinic Building.

Each ornament or candy cane on the tree has one suggested gift item, and participants may take as many as they like. All donated gifts should remain unwrapped and placed under the tree by the morning of Dec. 11.

On Dec. 13 and 14, UNC Horizons will host shopping days for clients to browse the donated gifts and choose the best gifts for their children. Clients will have the meaningful opportunity to give these gifts to their children during the holiday season. Horizons will also have an area for clients to wrap gifts they have selected and work on holiday cards. Such a special holiday would not be possible without the compassion and support of Horizons' donors throughout the UNC Medical Center and community.

UNC Horizons will also accept wrapping paper, as well as any gently used holiday decorations. Also needed are gently used women's or children's clothing, coats, boots, housewares, etc.

"UNC Horizons would like to express our deep and sincere gratitude for your donations," said Rachel Middlesteadt-Ellerson, who manages the holiday donation program. "We are very lucky to be a part of the OBGYN family, and we wish you a wonderful holiday season!"
