UNC makes Becker's Healthcare list of 100 hospitals for women's health

UNC Hospitals was noted for its five-bed UNC Center for Women's Mood Disorders and excellent health-education services.

Becker's Healthcare named UNC Hospitals to the 2017 edition of its list "100 hospitals and health systems with great women's health programs."

The hospitals included on the list support award-winning programs in women's health, breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, gynecology and women's heart care. This list also recognizes hospitals with forward-thinking labor and delivery departments and recognition for maternity care. Many are high volume referral centers for their community, serving women with health needs across the spectrum.

Becker’s states “UNC Hospitals operates the five-bed UNC Center for Women's Mood Disorders, which is the nation's first freestanding unit for women in need of inpatient care for postpartum depression and other perinatal mood disorders. UNC Hospitals also offers women's health education services — including printed materials and audiovisual resources — through its Women's Health Information Center, which is open to all women, even those who are not patients at the hospital. U.S. News & World Report ranked UNC Hospitals among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for gynecology in 2017-18.”

To develop this list, the Becker's Healthcare editorial team selected hospitals based on national rankings and awards received from several institutions, including U.S. News & World Report, CareChex, Women's Choice Award Best Breast Centers and Baby-Friendly USA.
