Make A Gift - Advanced Laparoscopy & Pelvic Pain
The Division of Advanced Laparoscopy and Pelvic Pain has the mission of delivering the best patient care available for the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic pain problems in women. A vital part of this mission is also to conduct research that will lead to better treatments, and to teach residents and fellows in our division to master both medical and surgical treatments for these common and difficult problems.
Funding for the teaching and research components of our work is always difficult to obtain. Contributions from patients who have been pleased with their care are of great help in continuing and expanding this work.
The Division’s priorities for gifts include:
- Establishing Endowed Professorships: This allows the Division to recruit and retain the best faculty in the country, thereby continually improving the Division’s education and curriculum.
- Establishing Endowed Fellowship positions: This relieves the department of the need to support the fellowship program, thus protecting it in difficult financial times.
- Dedicated Research Funds: This supplements the proceeds of research grants and allows the collection of pilot data in new areas of research.
- Unrestricted Gifts: This allows the Division to develop new areas in clinical and research endeavors and assists our participation in professional meetings and collaborative efforts with other researchers.
Types of Gifts
You may make your gift to the Department in various forms, using well-recognized gift vehicles that address your circumstances. You may wish to speak with your financial adviser before you give, to determine the most appropriate way to structure your gift to benefit yourself, your family, and the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Gifts of Cash: An outright gift of cash is usually the simplest method of giving. It is not subject to gift or estate taxes, and you can deduct the gift to the full extent of IRS rulings.
- Gifts of Securities: You may deduct the full fair market value of long-term appreciated securities and avoid any tax on capital gain.
- Gifts by Bequest: One of the easiest and most common ways for you to make a gift to the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is through a bequest in your will. Bequests work particularly well if you are unable to make an immediate outright gift or if you have concerns about your long-term planning, but believe in our programs and want to support the future of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Life Income Gifts: By transferring property to the management of a trustee and establishing a life income arrangement from the principal of this property, you can make a substantial gift to the Department. Life income gifts can take several forms: charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, pooled income funds.
- Other vehicles: Real estate, personal property, corporate matching gifts, closely held stock.
