The Division of Women's Primary Healthcare offers general obstetric and gynecologic services including full screening and preventive care of adult women across the lifespan (adolescence, pregnancy, the reproductive years, as well as menopause and the older woman). In addition, our obstetricians and gynecologists try to educate women on how maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Surgery

The physicians in Women's Primary Healthcare provide gynecologic surgery expertise as well as outpatient services.

Commonly performed procedures include:
• Hysteroscopy (diagnostic & operative)
• Laparoscopy (diagnostic & operative)
• Tubal ligation
• D&C (Dilation & Currettage)
• Vaginal and vulvar surgeries
• Myomectomy
• Hysterectomy
• Ovarian cystectomy

Midwifery

The UNC Midwifery Division also offers a hospital-based Nurse-Midwifery service to low-risk women with normal pregnancies. The Midwifery Division provides well-woman care to patients throughout the life-span.

Ongoing Patient Studies

Time_to_Conceive

Time to Conceive is a study, conducted by the University of North Carolina, focusing on factors affecting fertility.  Currently we are enrolling women to determine if we can use hormone levels to predict a woman's fertility.
