The UNC School
of Medicine has developed a strong network of preceptors practicing
in community-based health facilities that train medical students
at various times during their clinical years. Through the school's
community-based training programs, underrepresented minority medical
students provide health care to underserved groups, mainly minorities,
in communities throughout the state.
This Center of Excellence will:
- Implement rural Ambulatory Care experiences for 4th year students at community-based medical practices or clinics with large underrepresented populations
- Recruit and enroll URM preceptors in the Visiting Clinician Program to further the reinforce partnership between URM physicians, URM students and UNC.
