2015-2016 UNC OIA Medical Student International Health Fellowships are now open
Going abroad this summer? Want $ome money for your international clinical/research elective?
Deadline: Applications are due February 15, 2016 and selected fellows will be notified by the OIA no later than March 15, 2016. To be eligible, applications must be submitted via email to Shay_slifko@med.unc.edu in one single PDF document. Exception* The two letters of support can be emailed directly to Shay Slifko. Applicants must be in good academic standing.
Urban Myth #1 “The only students that get funding are students going with HHA or PPS”
= FALSE, HHA and PPS cannot even apply for this funding, it is only for individuals!
Urban Myth #2 “If you get funding, you can’t get any academic credit”
= FALSE, You can get funding and credit!! Only some specific NIH-related funding (usually for research) may prevent you from getting credit (and this is probably not an issue if you are doing an international elective) and NONE of the funding from these SOM fellowships prevent you from getting credit
Urban Myth #3 “If you don’t apply, you can’t get funding”
= TRUE
