The Lambaréné Schweitzer Fellows Program
The Lambaréné Schweitzer Fellows Program offers three-month Fellowships in medicine and public health at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon. The medical Fellowships are open to senior medical students to serve in pediatrics or adult medicine. Medical Fellows work as junior physicians under the supervision of the Schweitzer Hospital medical staff. The public health Fellowships are open to students and recent graduates in public health and other health-related fields (such as dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, and social work) with significant public health training. Public health Fellows work with the Community Health Program, which provides village-based health services, and/or the Medical Research Laboratory. All Fellows serve for three-month rotations between May 1, 2010 and October 31, 2010. Fluency in French is required. The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship provides complete funding for students (airfare, room, board, and immunizations). Fellows may receive academic credit according to your school’s policy. Applications are due December 15. More information about the program and the application are located online at: http://www.schweitzerfellowship.org/features/lamb/.
