One Health Intellectual Exchange Course Philosophy to Practical Integration of Human, Animal and Environmental Health
PUBH 690 section 008 - Spring Semester, 2012. Cross listed at UNC, Duke and NCSU (2 Credit course - also available for 1 and 3 credits). For UNC and Duke Students the Connect Carolina code is 5836. Graduate level seminar addressing the intersections of human, animal and environmental health. This weekly discussion series is designed to facilitate the understanding of health as an inexorably linked system requiring the collaborative effort of multi-disciplines. Learning objectives include 1) describing how different disciplines contribute to the practice of One Health and 2) using one health models to explain global health interventions. The discussion series will bring together established public health professionals, physicians, veterinarians, environmental researchers and other local / global health professionals on current research and updates in the interconnectedness of people, animals and the environment. Credits: This is a 2 credit hour course. Students can also sign up for 1 or 3 credits: In addition to regular course work, three credit students will be required to attend a twice monthly Wednesday morning, one hour (8:45am - 9:45am) discussion session on UNC campus. Students who can only enroll for 1 credit will be required to attend all Tuesday night discussions with an adjusted course work load.
