Digital Media Services

About the Digital Media Services (DMS) Team

Digital Media Services (DMS) staff creates, writes, produces and edits digital media for the School of Medicine.  DMS also handles audio / video engineering services from consulting to design and integration.

Services Offered

     We offer video support to School of Medicine faculty and staff. If you have any general questions, we encourage you to visit us in the OIS Multimedia Lab (M-F 9am-4pm)
  • Instructional Technology
    If you have any general questions, we encourage you to visit us in the OIS Multimedia Lab (M-F 9am-4pm)
  • Multimedia Training
    If you are interested in learning how to create podcasts, edit video, etc., one-on-one or group sessions are offered through the OIS Multimedia Lab.  Contact the Multimedia Lab to set up an appointment.

Digital Media Producer

Cathy produces multimedia materials primarily for the curriculum with an emphasis on video and audio production. This includes recording audio and video, editing, encoding for the Web, image manipulation and other aspects of multimedia production.

Tim provides audio visual engineering support for the School of Medicine.  He designs, installs, and maintains audio visual systems throughout the school.  Tim also handles engineering and technical director duties for live operating room events.

Digital Media Producer

Robb is a video producer/director, with a background including video/ film production, editing, web design/imaging, QuickTime VR, and training. In addition to traditional video production responsibilities, Robb also focuses on producing and distributing curriculum based video and audio content intended for podcasting, DVD, webcast, and other emerging new media formats.

Gordon produces digital video for curriculum-based instruction and online multimedia, providing video in multiple formats, including DVD authoring. He also creates graphic content and has a background in photography.

Ben Whitfield
Classroom Support Operations

Ben provides first line audio/video support for classrooms, lecture halls, and videoconferencing systems at the UNC school of Medicine. This entails troubleshooting as well as monitoring of the rooms to insure that all events take place as scheduled. Ben also researches technology developments relevant to the UNC School of Medicine teaching environment with a goal of integrating them to further enhance the student and faculty experience.
