Why have I lost my OneNote printer?

Many people have started to see a problem with the OneNote printer disappearing from the printer selections. Our research has determined that this issue is a result of an update from Microsoft. Below are two sets of instructions to resolve the issue. 
We recommend attempting Option 1 first since it is a quicker solution if it works in your situation. If Option 1 does not work for you, they follow the instructions for Option 2. If you are still unable to resolve the issue, then bring the machine by Client Services, and we will run an Office repair on the machine to resolve the issue

Option 1

1.       Select Control Panel

                                                              i.  Control Panel Home View - Select Programs then Programs and Features

                                                            ii.     Select Classic View - Select Programs and Features

2.        Scroll down to Microsoft Office Suite 2007- Right click- Select Change
3.        Select Repair (if error occurs eg. Bootstrap manager has stopped working what would you like to do; select close program; repeat steps 1 and 2, do NOT reboot PC at this time.
4.       Successful repair will require Reboot of PC
 
If the repair is unsuccessful after several attempts, then attempt Option 2. 

Option 2

  1. Install a generic printer driver in Windows Vista, and then configure it for OneNote.
  2. Install the generic printer driver clicking Start, type printers in the Start Search box, and then click Printers.
  3. Click Add a printer.
  4. In the Add Printer window, click Add a local printer.
  5. Select the “Use an existing port” check box, select the appropriate port, and then click Next.
  6. Select Generic for Manufacturer.
  7. For Printers, click Generic / Text Only, and then click Next.
  8. Select the “Use the driver that is currently installed (recommended)” check box if you are prompted, and then click Next:
  9. Click Next, then click Finish.
  10. Configure the generic printer for OneNote.
  11. From the printer list, right-click the generic or text only printer, and then click Properties.
  12. Select the Ports tab, and then select the “Send To Microsoft OneNote Port” check box.
  13. Click the Advanced tab, click “Send to Microsoft OneNote Driver” in the Driver list, and click Print Processor.
  14. In Print processor, click “OneNotePrint2007”.
  15. Under Default data type, select RAW, and then click OK.
  16. Click the General tab, change the name of the printer to "Send To OneNote 2007," and then click OK.
