PowerPoint Presenter View

Microsoft PowerPoint features a Presenter View to allow you to see your notes on one screen, and the presentation on the projected screen. This can usually be done when using a laptop. Some of our newer rooms allow this to be done using the built-in PC. Use the steps below to enable presenter view if needed.

Using a Windows Laptop

  1. Connect your laptop to the projector using the VGA or HDMI cable provided at the podium.
  2. Using the applicable key combination for your system, you must set your laptop to Extend Desktop
    - In Windows 7 or higher, you can use the Windows Key + P to select Extend Mode.
    - You may also right click on the desktop, select Screen Resolution, and change the Multiple Displays option to Extend these displays.
  3. Open your PowerPoint presentation.
  4. Select  the Slide Show tab on the ribbon at the top of the screen.
  5. Select Use Presenter View under the monitors segment of the ribbon.
  6. Start your presentation!

Using a Mac

  1. Connect your laptop to the projector using the VGA or HDMI cable provided at the podium.
  2. Open your PowerPoint presentation.
  3. Most MacBooks will automatically load Presenter View when you start your presentation regardless of the screen mode.
  4. If it does not, end your presentation, and use the Slide Show menu at the top of the screen, and select Presenter View.
