MSTAR Program DurationThe UNC MSTAR Training Site recognizes the diversity in the start and end dates of each university's academic year. In an effort to meet the needs of students, the UNC MSTAR Site is flexible and willing to work with you. You may work with the Program Facilitator one-on-one to customize not only your start and end dates, but the duration of your appointment period ranging from 8 to 12 weeks. Regardless of duration, expectations for each MSTAR Scholar remain the same. MSTAR Student Scholar StipendThe MSTAR Student Scholar Stipend level is approximately $1,748 per month. Actual amounts will vary based on the specific appointment period of individual students. Payments will be sent to students at the end of each month. The length of research time is determined by the student in consultation with their research mentor, but a minimum of 8 weeks of time is required and up to 12 weeks of funding is available. Students who elect to participate in the MSTAR scholarship program at a National Training Center, including the UNC site, must cover their own travel and living expenses. ***MSTAR STUDENTS MAY NOT BE FUNDED BY ANOTHER FEDERAL SOURCE (E.G.
