Trabecular meshwork genes and Glaucoma Gene Therapy

Research Goals:

My laboratory is interested in developing Gene Therapy protocols for the treatment of Glaucoma, a disease that is the most important cause of non-remedial blindness in the United States. Our research seeks to understand the mechanisms that control aqueous humor outflow resistance at the molecular level. To accomplish this goal, we are following two interrelated lines of investigation: identifying genes that are affected by insults known to induce glaucoma and developing effective gene delivery to glaucoma related eye tissues.
