Rajendra Mitra (Zongchao Han lab) published an article titled “Glycol Chitosan Engineered Auto-Regenerative Antioxidant Significantly Attenuates Pathological Damages in Models of Age-Related Macular Degeneration.” in ACS Nano (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28463509). This recently accepted manuscript shows for the first time that an engineered water soluble, biocompatible, trackable nanoceria with enriched antioxidant activity to scavenge intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS). This advanced formulation may offer superior therapeutic effect to deal with an oxidative stress induced pathogeneses, such as AMD.
