Course Description
The UNC Eye Symposium will provide the latest updates and insights in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders including anterior segment, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, oculoplastics, and pediatric ophthalmology.
Target Audience
This conference is designated for Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Ophthalmic Technicians and Photographers.
Educational Objectives
The information presented at this educational activity should increase attendees’ ability to:
1) Examine relative efficacy and risks of new glaucoma surgical procedures compared to standard procedures
2) Examine current imaging printouts to see how they can help diagnose macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy at an earlier stage
3) Determine ideal treatment algorithm for macular edema from retinal diseases
4) Identify patients with optic nerve disease using OCT
5) Determine cause of strabismus and appropriate surgical management
Accreditation
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the North Carolina Medical Society. The Greensboro AHEC is accredited by the NCMS to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Other Accreditation
CME Category 1 courses in Ophthalmology approved by the AMA are awarded Category B credits for Allied Health personnel in Ophthalmology. Continuing education credits have been approved by the NC Board of Optometry for this event.

The Greensboro Area Health Education Center (GAHEC) designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.5 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Registration and Fees
The registration fees are $199 for MDs, ODs, and PhDs and $100 for Ophthalmic Technicians and Photographers. There is no fee for Medical Students, Residents, or Fellows in training.
Registration fees include credit, continental breakfast, lunch and breaks. All registrants must register online at www.gahec.org or complete the attached registration form. Registrations will not be processed unless accompanied by full payment. You can register online at www.gahec.org, by fax at (336) 832-7591, or by mailing your form with payment to the address on the registration form. The registration deadline is April 5, 2013.
Registration is often limited. Late registrants may not receive all conference materials. All registrations must be received by April 5, 2013. When your registration is processed, you will receive a receipt and/or confirmation. If you have not received your confirmation by April 5, 2013, please call (336) 832-8025 to check on your registration.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be received either by fax or mail by April 5, 2013. Cancellations received after this date will not be refunded. A cancellation fee of $75 will be charged at that time. Transfer of registration to another UNC School of Medicine conference in lieu of cancellation is not possible. Substitutions are encouraged.
The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, GAHEC will fully refund registration fees but is not responsible for any related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, rental car, or travel agencies.

All educational activities will take place at the Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center, www.rizzoconferencecenter.com.
Although every effort is made to provide a comfortable temperature in the meeting room, it is difficult to find a temperature that is comfortable for everyone. Please bring a jacket, sweater, or light wrap in case the room is too cool for your comfort.
