Research & Clinical Trials
Our goal at UNC Ophthalmology is to continue to strive for excellence in vision care, and in doing so assume a leadership role in education and actively work towards clinically relevant research.
We intend to further the state-of-the-art of ophthalmology through funded and unfunded research programs. We encourage and support original research by both faculty and residents and work to present and publish in reputable forums. We especially encourage interdepartmental research projects to participate in the larger research community of the University.
Our departmental research facilities consist of state-of-the-art laboratories located in the Neuroscience Research Building. We share space with the Departments of Neuroscience, Neurology, and Genetics in a unique, collaborative, and stimulating atmosphere. The disciplines of Cellular, Molecular Biology, and Genetics are also supported by an extraoridinary animal facility that occupies the first two floors of the building.
