The UNC School of Medicine Nursing Recognition Awards Program receives numerous nominations annually. These nominations can be submitted by medical staff and administrative employees. Seven Nursing Recognition Awards are given: three for inpatient services, one in advance practice or specialty nursing, one in nurse management, and two in outpatient clinics. Award recipients are determined by their demonstration of excellence in nursing practice, evidence of special qualities of caring and compassion, as well as a commitment to teaching and education. Sally Gillooly, RN, specializing in pediatric orthopaedics, was a previous award recipient. |
