Welcome to the Office of Translational Technologies
The Office of Translational Technologies (OTT) was established to provide operational services to the University’s core facilities, and to serve as a resource for investigators and scientists needing information and access to general and specialized scientific instrumentation and services provided by core facilities.
OTT fulfills its mission by:
- Initiating and engaging in various marketing processes
- Assisting core facilities in marketing their services
- Assisting core facilities in organizing workshops to showcase their services
- Assisting core facilities in marketing their services
- Forming strategic alliances aimed at enhancing the visibility of core facilities
- Supporting core facilities in identifying emerging technologies for purchase
- Assisting core facilities in preparing and applying for grants
- Awarding funding to principal investigators on a competitive basis for use of services provided by core facilities
- Providing recharge center implementation and management services
- Assisting core facilities with creation of new recharge service centers
- Assisting with rates and other revisions for existing recharge service centers
- Assisting with invoicing and other accounting issues
- Recognizing opportunities for creating synergy between core facilities offering similar services or where services offered by one core facility may be closely upstream or downstream from services offered by another core facility
- Assisting with merging core facilities offering similar or closely related services, upon request
- Promoting opportunities for sharing workloads between core facilities
- Assisting core facilities in administrating educational workshops and other educational forums
- Providing a process to provide customized training, via core facilities, to investigators and scientists inside and outside the University
OTT also provides assistance with the closing of redundant or outdated core facilities upon request, as well as advocate for and participate in the creation of new core facilities. Additionally, OTT is available to serve in an advocacy role for communications between core facilities and the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR).
