Professor Emeritus of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
The Joe W. Grisham Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching is given annually by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine to a member of the faculty that is selected by the Graduate Students in Molecular and Cellular Pathology. This award was named for Dr. Joe Grisham in recognition of his significant contributions and leadership during a critical period of expansion and development of graduate programs in pathology while he served as Chair of the department from 1972 to 1999. Selection of the recipient of this award is based upon several criteria developed by the students, including (1) contributions by the faculty member to the overall enrichment of graduate student education, (2) availability of the faculty member for consultation and interaction with students, (3) scientific contributions by the faculty member to graduate education, including serving on student committees and class room teaching, and (4) the faculty member is a good scientist.
