Pathology Services Core (PSC)

This core provides UNC investigators and other researchers with a full range of seamless services for pre-clinical and clinical pathology needs to enhance translational research in the UNC School of Medicine. The core is administered by the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The Laboratory is designed to analyze fresh, frozen, and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues and cell lines using morphology-based assays qualitatively and quantitatively for DNA, RNA, and proteins. The PSC also offers slide scanning and digital pathology analysis.

Microscopy Services Laboratory (MSL)

The MSL is within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and serves as a core facility for the UNC School of Medicine. The Laboratory provides light microscopy and electron microscopy services to UNC researchers and UNC Hospitals. The MSL also offers assistance with image analysis.

Animal Clinical Laboratory Services Core

The Animal Clinical Laboratory Services Core provides hematological and clinical chemistry testing as well as multiplexed biomarker immunoassays. The Core offers investigators the ability to perform animal bloodwork using the same technology employed in human clinics but on instruments specifically designed for animal specimens.
