Christine M. Walko, Pharm.D., BCOP

The core members of the clinical team have professional training and certification in palliative medicine and palliative care nursing. Members of the core team are based in the UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health Care System. Palliative care encompasses humanistic and scientific contributions from many perspectives; we rely on effective collaborations with community partners, faculty from other Schools at the University of North Carolina, and input from faculty outside of UNC.

Dr. Walko received her PharmD from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and worked as a research assistant at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. She completed her pharmacy practice residency at the Medical College of Virginia and her hematology and oncology specialty residency and academic fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research program focuses on the utilization of pharmacokinetics and pharmacogenomics to individualize cancer and supportive therapy for patients.
