Stipend

All graduate students in Pharmacology are provided a stipend of $25,000 (beginning July 1, 2008). UNC-CH tuition and fees and health insurance are also covered. This support is derived from a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Training Grant, from scholarships, and from department funds. After completion of the Doctoral Written and Oral Examinations in the second year, the funding responsibility rests with the dissertation adviser.

The department also supplies a new laptop (PC or Mac) for all incoming
students. Current and new buildings are equipped with wireless internet
access.

Every student in our program is expected to devote full time to research and
graduate studies, 12 months per year (allowing time for vacation and holidays).
For this reason, students do not undertake regular outside employment
