Jasco Pharmaceuticals, LLC, has initiated a collaborative research program in pancreatic cancer with the laboratory of Antonio Baines, a professor at North Carolina Central University and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of North Carolina.

The focus of the research is on developing therapeutics for pancreatic cancer that function through a Pim kinase mechanism of action. The collaborative research will involve the biological platform, tools and expertise of Dr. Baines's lab at NCCU with Jasco Pharma’s proprietary selective Pim kinase inhibitors. Pim kinases are an important component of a signaling pathway that is instrumental in the survival of cancer cells. Hence, research in Pim kinases should expand understanding of pancreatic cancer biology and further the development of promising new therapies in oncology targeting Pim kinases.
