UNC School of Medicine Student organizations, including PHR, will provide information to incoming students about their organizations and activities.

Domestic Violence Awareness, Prevention, and Counseling Series, Day 1 (MBRB 2204, from October 21, 2008 12:00 PM to October 21, 2008 01:00 PM)
A two day series on Domestic Violence with Kit Gruelle, Domestic Violence Expert and Advocate. On day 1, Kit Gruelle will give a talk on Domestic Violence in North Carolina, discussing prevalence, effects on victims and society, victim resources, and legal complications.
Domestic Violence Awareness, Prevention, and Counseling Series, Day 2 (Bondurant Hall G010, from October 22, 2008 12:00 PM to October 22, 2008 01:00 PM)
A two day series on Domestic Violence with Kit Gruelle, Domestic Violence Expert and Advocate. On day 2, Kit will give a workshop on counseling victims after they have admitted to abuse and the resources available to them in and around Orange County. This workshop will be limited to second year students who have already completed the ICM domestic violence special topics day.
Know, Dare, Act Regional Advocacy Institutes (Emory University, Atlanta, from October 25, 2008 09:00 AM to October 25, 2008 04:00 PM)
Southern regional institute bringing together student chapter members and other health professional students, from throughout our region, who are interested in health and human rights. Together we will learn about pressing human rights matters and develop your skills as advocates. With the help of guest experts and experienced PHR national staff, the regional institutes will demonstrate the influence of health professional advocates and help you to gain new connections & ideas for creating change as well as holding workshop sessions to cover how to influence policy makers, how to recruit for a cause and other avenues of outreach and advocacy.
Health Care Policy and Reform Series -Senitorial Candidates (MBRB 2204, from October 27, 2008 12:00 PM to October 27, 2008 01:00 PM)
Representatives for the candidates for US Senate from North Carolina, Elizabeth Dole and Kay Hagan, will speak to students about their candidate's ideas for Health Care policy and reform. The Hagan and Dole representatives each do a short presentation and then take time for questions.
Health Care Policy and Reform Series - Gubernatorial Candidates (MBRB G202, from October 28, 2008 12:00 PM to October 28, 2008 01:00 PM)
Representatives for candidates North Carolina State Governor, Bev Perdue and Pat McCrory, will speak with students about their candidate's policies on health care and health care reform. Candidate representatives will each do a small presentation and then take time for questions.
