Lymphedema Program

Program & Goals

We help educate patients on early intervention of lymphedema (in order to avoid or reduce severity) and provide therapeutic treatment for lymphedema.

Lymphedema, or swelling in the arms and/or legs due to fluid retention, is commonly caused by removal of the lymph nodes or by radiation treatment for certain forms of cancer. The key is catching lymphedema early to avoid progression and severity of the condition. Michael Y. Lee, MD, MHA, or his designee, treats each patient to minimize lymphedema and increase quality of life.

Our physicians also refer patients for hospital therapies, which are conveniently located next to our department at the Center for Rehabilitation Care of Chapel Hill.
