Residency
The goal of the residency program of the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of North Carolina is to develop medical graduates into outstanding practicing physiatrists. Training includes diagnosis and treatment of patients of all ages suffering from painful or functionally limiting conditions.
Our physiatrists diagnose and treat neurological, musculoskeletal, and other organ system impairments, and manage treatment of patients with long-term disabling conditions. The physiatrists lead multidisciplinary teams that work with the patient and family to achieve maximal development or restoration of physical, psychological, social, occupational and vocational functions in persons with disabilities.
Our residency program offers a wide range of clinical, educational and research opportunities, including balanced clinical experiences, organized educational programs, as well as daily interactions with experienced faculty. In addition to experienced faculty in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, residents also are exposed to faculty in other departments, including:
- Spine Management: Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Rheumatology
