Applying to the Doctoral Program

Thank you for your interest in our program. We are pleased to announce that UNC has implemented a new program for entering into biological & biomedical graduate studies called the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program (BBSP). This program will act as a common portal by which students interested in any of 12 participating graduate programs, including Cell and Molecular Physiology, begin their graduate studies at UNC.

BBSP students will have the freedom to choose coursework and rotations from any of the participating programs. At the end of the first year, students will select a thesis lab and join the PhD program where they will complete their doctoral studies. We are excited about the flexibility this new program offers to students during their first year.

The application and admission process for this coming year will be conducted entirely through this new mechanism, and so applications directly to this program will no longer be considered for the this year's admission process.

Instead we encourage you to apply through the BBSP program. A description of the new program can be found here:
