Parking policy
It is the policy of the Department of Cell & Molecular Physiology to allocate parking permits on campus lots to its employees based on position and total state service. Preference will be given in the order below:
  1. The Chairman and Department Administrator
  2. Tenure-track or tenured Faculty
  3. Staff and remaining Faculty, by total State Service
  4. Postdoctoral fellows will continue to receive their permits through the Department of Public Safety and not via their home departments. Permits are drawn from a lottery and then assigned strictly by total state service. If no assignment is made, you can elect to be placed on a waiting list.
  5. Students will continue to be eligible to participate in the campus-wide lottery. These permits are assigned directly from the Department of Public Safety. Again, if no assignment is made, you can elect to be placed on a waiting list.

Public Safety now requires applications for Commuter Alternatives Program (CAP) permits to be processed by the parking coordinator. Employees interested in applying for a CAP permit should see Mary Wright in the Chair's office or contact her at mary_wright@med.unc.edu or (919) 966-3556.
