University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
CELL & MOLECULAR BIOLOGY PREDOCTORAL TRAINING PROGRAM
The University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill has initiated a predoctoral training program in
Cell and Molecular
Biology. The Faculty of this program are derived
from a number of different departments and have expertise in a variety of areas
including: the molecular biology of signal transduction, the development of
vectors for gene therapy, the construction of transgenic animals for human
diseases, the molecular studies of chromosome segregation, mechanisms of DNA
repair and recombination, cancer biology, and mechanisms of RNA processing. The
goal of the program is to provide students with the course work and research
training that will allow them to investigate the molecular mechanisms of basic
cellular processes.
The
University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill is a leading institution in the research areas of cell and
molecular biology and is near two other strong research institutions, Duke
University and
North Carolina State University. The Research Triangle area (which
includes Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh) is consistently rated among the most
desirable
residential areas in the United States.
Financial support is available for qualified applicants.
Applications should be sent before January 15.
