OASIS – Outreach and Support Intervention Services
The OASIS Program located in Orange County, North Carolina, is a clinical program of the Department of Psychiatry at UNC’s School of Medicine. Our mission is to promote recovery from a first episode of psychosis using evidence-based practices within a coordinated specialty care model.
Coordinated Specialty Care Services for Early Psychosis:

- Timely and comprehensive psychosocial assessments
- Medical management services
- Individual and group psychotherapies
- Family therapy and support services
- Employment and education support services
- Social and recreational services
- Peer support services
- Digital Interventions
- Health and Wellness Coaching Services
- Individuals ages 15-30 who are experiencing or recovering from a first episode of psychosis within the past 3 years.
- Clients who live in Orange, Durham, Alamance, Chatham, Person, and surrounding counties.
- Consultation services are available for those outside of our catchment zone for questions pertaining to management of patient with early psychosis.
What is Psychosis?
Psychosis is a brain disorder in which a person experiences hallucinations, delusions, and confused thinking. A first episode of psychosis is often a confusing and scary time, and patients and family members may not know where to turn for help. It may be difficult for a person and their family to recognize that the changes in thinking and behavior are psychosis. Even when recognized, it may be difficult to know where to turn. The good news is: psychosis is treatable, especially in its early stages.
