  Twenty-fifth Annual STEP Symposium

Advances in the Neuroscience and Treatment of Schizophrenia: Celebrating 25 Years of STEP

Schizophrenia and related disorders are serious but treatable illnesses. Outcomes continue to improve when we use treatment approaches that really work.

At the 25th Annual STEP Symposium, learn from and interact with experts in the mental health field as they share the latest in understanding and treating schizophrenia. Explore genomic insights into the origins of schizophrenia and how to implement psychosocial treatments. Learn about the variety of treatment programs at the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health.

Audience: Psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists, other mental health professionals, persons living with mental illness, family members, and advocates.

Objectives: The information presented at this educational activity should improve your ability to:

  • Provide an overview of obstacles to implementing best practices for psychosocial treatments
  • Discuss the best predictors of genetic risk for schizophrenia
