Clinics and Services

The UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health provides a continuum of care for individuals with serious mental illness and their families. Our outpatient clinics are located at Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro, one mile from the UNC campus and in Wake County. The STEP Research Clinic the new UNC STEP Community Clinic-Wake and our Wake ACT Team serve Wake County.

 

STEP (Schizophrenia Treatment and Evaluation Program) provides treatment for individuals with severe mental illness, including schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder and major depression.

OASIS (Outreach and Support Intervention Services) treats adolescents and young adults who are experiencing their first psychosis.

Community Services provides support to allow individuals with severe mental illness live in the community, includes Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) and community support teams.

The Community Resource Court Program collaborates with Judicial System 15 to work with individuals diagnosed with mental disorders who become involved in the criminal court of Orange or Chatham counties.

North Carolina Psychiatric Research Center provides state-of-the-art clinical treatment to patients at any stage of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or other serious mental illness.

UNC STEP Community Clinic - Wake provides treatment for individuals with severe mental illness, including, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder and major depression.

Critical Time Intervention (CTI) program assists individuals with mental illness in Orange and Chatham counties transition from institutions to the community.

Recovery programs at the Center offer programming and opportunities for our patients and others in the community, which reinforces and complements the recovery and rehabilitation efforts of our other community-based services.
