Blending resources and expertise
The North Carolina Psychiatric Research Center (NCPRC), sponsored by North Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services, has recently partnered with the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health. Located on the Dix Campus in Raleigh, N.C, and formerly called the Clinical Research Unit of Dorothea Dix Hospital, the research unit has been in operation since 1967. The NCPRC now conducts research mission as a multidisciplinary, outpatient, psychiatric research center.
This partnership yields state-of-the-art clinical trials focusing on people with severe mental illness and will produce new information to improve treatment methods for the future. The NCPRC also provides exceptional care in a safe environment, and provides expert consultation services for community mental health agencies and professionals across the state.
