Biography
After completing undergraduate studies in Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997 and then earning a MD in 2002 from University of Massachusetts Medical School, Dr. Newberg went on to complete Psychiatry Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2006. He subsequently pursued fellowship training as a Clinical Research Fellow with the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), working with Drs. Carlos Zarate and Husseini Manji and managing patients participating in NIMH inpatient and outpatient research protocols. After completing fellowship in 2008, Dr. Newberg has joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill faculty as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and as Medical Director of the Adult Bipolar Program at the UNC Bipolar Center.
