Dr. Smith divides her time between three distinct settings. She works with children, adolescents and adults with a spectrum of disorders at a community clinic in Burlington, NC. She serves as a psychiatric consultant to the emergency room where she supervises nurse practitioners and social workers in the evaluation and management of patients in crisis. She also supervises trainees in a child and adolescent psychiatry teaching clinic. Her areas of interest include cultural competency education, medical student and trainee education, the interface between psychiatry and the juvenile justice system, and systems of care for psychiatric patients.
