Summary Statement:
Dr. Penaskovic’s primary clinical activity is directing the psychotic disorders inpatient unit where he supervises residents and medical students in the evaluation and management of individuals suffering from serious mental illnesses like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. His academic interest is focused on the implementation of active learning in medical student and resident education. His teaching has been recognized with awards locally and nationally. Administratively he currently serves as the Vice-Chair for Clinical Affairs. As the Health and Human Behavior Course Director for second year medical students he enjoys developing innovative projects focused on the advancement of the medical education curriculum. Currently, he also serves as a School of Medicine advisor helping guide and counsel students in order to be successful in their endeavor to create their own physician identity.
