Derek is a social worker with the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health Assertive Community Treatment Team.   He works in conjunction with other mental health professionals on the ACT team to serve the severely and persistently mentally ill population in Orange, Chatham, Alamance, and Durham counties.  Assertive Community Treatment provides intensive community based treatment, offering individual and group therapy, medication management, case management, and dual disorder treatment for those with a co-occurring substance abuse disorders.  Derek has established over ten years of experience providing Assertive Community Treatment with this team.
