Dr. Thornton has over 15 years of experience in survey design, data collection, analysis, and management of large-scale epidemiologic and community-based research. She has worked with many large scale studies such as the Virginia Twin Registry, The Price Foundation Genetics of Eating Disorders studies, the NIMH funded Genetics of Anorexia study, and the Swedish Twin Registry. Her primary research concerns phenotypic aspects and genetic association of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, purging disorder, and tobacco use.
