Research Volunteer Registry

To conduct research studies, we need help from volunteers like you – individuals who want to help us better understand eating disorders. You can help by volunteering to join our research registry. Anyone can join our registry. We welcome volunteers with no history of an eating disorder, as well as volunteers with a current or past history of an eating disorder.  To learn more click here. Uniting Couples in the Treatment of Anorexia Nervosa (UCAN)

The study examines two comprehensive treatments as couples face the challenges of anorexia nervosa. Because this is a therapy research study, we are able to offer this study-related leading-edge treatment to you at no cost. Active treatment will last for about six months, and your progress will continue to be monitored for up to one-year after treatment is completed. For more information, please call our study coordinator at (919) 843-2483 or email us at UCAN@unc.edu. Read more about UCAN here.

Anorexia Nervosa: Investigation of Gut-Microbiome & Anxiety (ANIGMA)

This study will examine the bacterial composition of the gut as it relates to eating disorders in low-weight populations. To this end, we will need both healthy volunteers as well as those who are diagnosed with anorexia nervosa and have not yet begun treatment. You may be eligible if you are a female between the ages of 18-45 and have not taken any antibiotics in the past two months. Find out more details about and ANIGMA here
