The UNC Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders is an internationally recognized leader in the treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. We offer evaluations, consultations, and treatment for children, adolescents, and adults with eating disorders. Eating disorders are complicated and often require medical monitoring. One of the greatest strengths of our program is the integration with UNC Hospitals and UNC School of Medicine. We work collaboratively with other medical specialties to integrate physical and psychological therapy and to deliver personalized treatment.

Led by our clinical director, Dr. Jean Doak, our treatment team includes psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, recreational therapists, and dietitians.

Our interventions are guided by the scientific evidence and include family-based therapy (FBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). We also accept most insurance plans.

But our ultimate goal is to help you throughout your recovery journey.

You can recover from an eating disorder and we can help.
