Goals:
The Forensic Psychiatry Program and Clinic at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Medicine is a statewide and national resource for civil and criminal forensic assessments, expert testimony, forensic empirical research, and training/education in psychiatry and law. We:
- Provide prompt, reliable, and credible forensic services by knowledgeable and highly-trained clinical staff.
- Provide education and consultation to attorneys, legal professionals, and the mental health community about how expertise in psychiatry and psychology can be of assistance to them and the people they serve.
- Contribute knowledge to cutting edge forensic issues by conducting empirical research at the interface of psychiatry and law.
- Train psychiatrists and psychologists in the practice of conducting evidence-based assessments on forensic questions.
