STEP Research Clinic at North Carolina Psychiatric Research Center (NCPRC)
The North Carolina Psychiatric Research Center (NCPRC), located in the Scott Building on the former Dorothea Dix Hospital campus, blends treatment resources from North Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services with clinical and research expertise from the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health. Based in the NCPRC (formerly known as the Clinical Research Unit of Dorothea Dix Hospital), the STEP Research Clinic services are open to residents of Wake County and the surrounding area who are at any stage of coping with schizophrenia or a related condition. Additionally, all patients who attend our clinics are given the opportunity to participate in innovative treatment studies being conducted at the NCPRC. This partnership yields exceptional care in a safe environment for people with severe mental illness, as well as expert consultation services for community mental health agencies and professionals across the state. This forward-thinking collaboration will also produce new information to improve treatment methods for the future. If you would like information about our services, please call 919-733-5227.
