GeneS- Genomic Psychiatry Cohort Study of Schizophrenia
UNC will be one of 7 sites making up the Genomic Psychiatry Cohort Study of Schizophrenia (GPCS), whose main purpose is to establish a genomic registry of patients with schizophrenia and unaffected comparison subjects. The registry will include clinical data and blood specimens from these subjects, and will be part of the National Institute of Mental Health Cell and DNA Repository at Rutgers University (RUCDR).
For the UNC site, study subjects will include 1000 individuals meeting Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV (DSMIV) and/or International Classification of Disease X (ICD X) criteria for schizophrenia, and 1000 comparison subjects unaffected by a mental disorder with psychotic features.
