Information for Third Year Medical Students Assigned to Central Regional Hospital for PsychiatryStudents are responsible for their own transportation arrangements: AHEC no longer reimburses students for transportation to any sites within a 30-mile radius of Chapel Hill. l ORIENTATION FOR ALL PSYCHIATRY STUDENTS: 8 AM, First Day of Clerkship. MEET AT 238 MacNider , UNC Campus. You will be dismissed at 11 and should report to Central Regional Hospital in Butner at 12:45 PM. The staff members at Central Regional Hospital are looking forward to having you work with them for your clerkship in psychiatry. The working hours at Central Regional for medical students are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Medical students who go to CRH are given "on call" work at two or three times during the six week period. They do NOT have any weekend call. CRH students will observe ECT at UNC. Students may park in any parking space that isn't clearly prohibited. (e.g. Handicap Parking)
Directions to Central Regional Hospital: From Durham: Follow Interstate 85 North to exit 189. Turn left from exit onto Gate 2 Road. Gate 2 Road becomes Central Ave. Proceed 2.0 miles to fork in the road. Bear left onto Westbrook Drive. Take an immediate right onto Veazey road and proceed .2 miles and the Central Region Psychiatric Hospital entrance will be on the right. Please do not be late as you cannot be allowed extra time. Students with special testing needs should inform Ms. Daniel and then make their own arrangements for the NBME subtest administration with Forrest Page, Registrar of the SOM. The NBME exam is not available for earlier administration - please don’t make travel plans which will conflict!
