Application ProcessThree positions are available each year in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship program on a competitive basis. You must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Program (ERAS) beginning around December 1st of each year. To apply to the program, visit the ERAS Web site. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for a fellowship position in our program:
Eligible applications will be considered based on their preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity. Upon receiving the applications through ERAS, applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to visit Chapel Hill for an in-depth program overview and meetings with our Fellows and Faculty. Visits are scheduled between February and April of each year. Invitations, confirmation of your interview and other correspondence will be sent via email. Each year approximately 200 applications are received, and 30 candidates are invited for interviews. Appointments are made exclusively through the National Residency Matching Program. All candidates must register through Specialties Matching Service (SMS). To register go to: National Resident Matching Program's Specialty Matching Services. Policy regarding VisasH1-B visas are not sponsored at University of NC Hospitals.
