Welcome!
Welcome to the homepage for the Queer Straight Alliance (QSA) at the University of North Carolina's School of Medicine! Through our involvement with faculty, administrators, and students in the School of Medicine and other UNC Health Schools, we seek to better educate our classmates and ourselves about issues in serving LGBTQ populations. In the Fall 2011 semester, we already have plans to hold a Safe Zone training workshop, a discussion on what it means to be an ally, and a lecture on the importance of sexual history in the doctor-patient relationship -- please check our list of upcoming events to see what else will be happening or email us to be added to the QSA listserv.
Get Involved with the QSA! We are looking for interested MS1s who would be willing to carry on the education and advocacy work that the Queer Straight Alliance performs within the medical school through involvement with MS4 Capstone Curriculum, lunch time lectures, and feedback to pre-clinical curriculum development. Email one of us (or even talk to us in person) if you would like to learn more.
Become Safe Zone Certified: We will be having a Fall Safe Zone training session for students, faculty, and staff of the medical school on a date to be announced later.
Visitors and new students, are you aware that UNC-CH has a non-discrimination policy in place in order to respect all members of the campus community? It was updated in June 2008 to include both gender identity and gender expression! Go UNC!!!
Have a comment on the website or a question about the QSA and/or the UNC-CH School of Medicine? Please feel free to contact one of our student leaders! Last updated August 23, 2011. |
