January 2013 -- Yueh Lee, MD, and Cherie Kuzmiak, DO, began the first clinical trial of the human breast tomosynthesis device at UNC in January 2013 as co-principal investigators of the University Cancer Research Fund-supported study, “Comparison of stationary digital breast tomosynthesis and 2-D digital mammography in patients with known breast lesions.”
