Recent Awards

 

1. Dr. Mauricio Castillo has been announced as the NEW Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Neuroradiology. His goals and a few words regarding his position can be found here:

2. Dr. Joseph K.T. Lee has been selected as a gold medalist by The Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology. This highly distinguished award will be given out in Seoul, Korea in October of 2008 by the 12th Asian Oceanic Congress. Only 2 American radiologists have received this honor before: Alex Margulis and Ann Osborn.

3. Dr. Semelka was the Kodak-Carestream Visiting Professor for the 58th annual meeting of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology (RANZCR) meeting held in Melbourne Australia Oct 3-7, 2007 (http://www.ranzcrasm.com/speakers.asp). He was awarded an honorary fellowship of RANZCR at the meeting as well. He went on to make presentations at state chapters of the society in Canberra and Brisbane. Dr. Paul Molina had received this same honor three years earlier at the 55th annual scientific meeting, held in Perth. UNC Radiology is in the process of setting up further collaborations with RANZCR.


4. Dr. Joseph K. T. Lee was announced in July as the first ever recipient of the James H. Scatliff Professorship.

5 . The Charles A. Bream Award has been awarded to Mauricio Castillo, M.D., F.A.C.R.

Presented by the fourth-year residents of the class of 2007 to the faculty member who, over the course of their residency training, has contributed the most to their understanding and knowledge of radiology and who has consistently demonstrated the superior clinical acumen, teaching excellence, invaluable mentorship and respectful professionalism exhibited by Dr. Bream.
